Sowing Instructions

How to Grow Red Mizuna

  • Sowing: Sow seeds directly in the garden from fall to spring for best results, as Mizuna prefer cooler temperatures. For continuous harvesting, sow additional seeds every two to three weeks.
  • Sunlight: Red Mizuna thrives in partial to full sunlight but benefits from partial shade in the afternoon in warmer climates.
  • Soil and Watering: Plant in well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Keep the soil consistently moist, especially in warmer weather, to prevent the plant from bolting (flowering too early).
  • Harvesting: Begin harvesting the outer leaves once they reach about 10 cm in length, or harvest the entire plant when it matures at about 30–40 days after planting. Regular harvesting encourages regrowth, allowing for a steady supply throughout the season.

Recommended instructions:

sowing:

  • Select a full sunny sowing area
  • Plan the number of seeds according to 1 m² depending on the size of the area/vessel
  • Number of seeds per square meter: 10-20
  • The sowing depth is twice the size of the seed, 1-0.5 cm deep
  • Keep soil moist until germination. (Not too wet)
  • Watering once a day to once every three days (depending on the season)
  • It is recommended to use compost and organic nutrients and microbes.
