Many great varieties from the Holy Land have been lost in time. Of these unique plants sometimes only exist in the hands of one or two gardeners.

Help us save some of those seeds that are in danger of disappearing!

Donate seeds to our bank and help us secure our future food supply.

Conservation of crop genetic resources is important to the long-term health of the world's food production systems. Genetic diversity provides the raw materials for selecting and improving plant traits such as resistance to pests, diseases, and environmental stresses. researchers and plant breeders rely on existing genes. Thus, saving and preserving seeds, and their genes, is critical to future food security and stability.

Why Do We Save Seeds In Our Banks?

Over the past 30 years the storage of material in the form of seeds, has been developed by agencies and institutions involved with plant genetic resources. Seed banking has considerable advantages over other methods. Seeds are a convenient means of long term storage of genetic diversity, as the samples are small in size, are easily handled, require low maintenance and frequently remain viable for long periods. In general, conditions of low temperature and desiccation allow seeds to maintain viability, in many cases indefinitely.
