Ein Dor Melon Seeds

'Ein Dor' combination of pineapple with a hint of banana flavor. The fruit turns yellow under its coarse netting as it matures and sets at 1-2 kg melon. This Holy Land heirloom melon was selected and cultivated by local resident David Solomon, one of the founders of Kibbutz Ein Dor in the Lower Galilee. 'Ein Dor' has a sweet cavity, slow to mature, but well worth the wait. David Solomon worked in agriculture, with much of his work focused on cultivating new varieties of melons, watermelons, sesame, wheat and more. He received many awards for his work and had close ties with Tel Aviv University and research institutes around the world.

Recommended instructions:

sowing:

  • Select a full sunny sowing area
  • Plan the amount of seeds according to 1 m² depending on the size of the area / vessel
  • Number of seeds per square meter: 3-2
  • Sowing depth is twice the size of the seed, 1-0.5 cm deep
  • Keep soil moist until germination. (Not too wet)
  • Watering once a day to once every three days (depending on the season)
  • It is recommended to use compost and organic nutrients and microbes.

When growing melon one has to consider that the vines have a tendency to spread and reaches long distances. Sow seeds directly in the ground or prepare transplant in advance. plant outside once spring arrived and the soil warmed up. Prepare hills separated by 40 cm in diameter by 2 meters in each direction, planted 4-6 seeds per hill, the seeds will germinate in about 4-10 days.
